SVETLANA MASGUTOVA received her Ph.D. in Developmental and Educational Psychology in 1988 from the Scientific Research Institute of General and Developmental Psychology of the Russian Education Academy. Her studies were based on the works of L. Vigotsky, I. Bozovich, I. Dubrovina and N. Tolstyckh. She worked for four years as a university lecturer on psychology in Ufa, and later as a lecturer at Moscow and Moscow district Universities, conducted scientific research at the Russian Education Academy.
Currently, she is the Director of the International Dr. Svetlana Masgutova Institute of Movement Development and Reflex Integration (Poland) and the Svetlana Masgutova Educational Institute ™ for Neuro-Sensory-Motor and Reflex Integration (USA). She has written and published, externally and internally, over 100 articles, manuals, and books on psychology, education, Neuro-Sensory-Motor Reflex Integration, Educational Kinesiology, Art-Kinesiology®, and movement based development. She is an active organizer of scientific-practical conferences and the Leader of the International Neuro-Sensory-Motor Reflex Integration (MNRI™) Team. Dr Masgutova has been a lecturer for post-graduates at the Early Intervention and Neuro-speech Development Faculty at the High Education University and Medical Academy in Wroclaw, Poland for the past seven years.
Dr. Masgutova has been leading research since 1989 for the MNRI™, and has studied the influence of primary movements on different aspects of development and learning. Her work focuses on the concepts of Developmental Movement and Reflex Integration processes to facilitate sensory processing, emotional recovery, motor-physical and sensory-motor rehabilitation, as well as learning and developmental enrichment.
For 18 years, Dr. Masgutova developed and led the research on Developmental Movement and Personality Development a) at the Personality and Art Development Research Institute of the Russian Education Academy and b) in kindergartens, schools, and universities and in Russia, Poland, and other countries.
Dr. Masgutova has received 12 acknowledgements and awards for achievement by universities in Russia, and in 1996 was presented an award by the Educational Kinesiology Foundation (USA) for outstanding results and development of the Educational Kinesiology Program in Russia. She was also acknowledged through two awards from the parents and specialists in Poland for outstanding results in work with challenged children. Her book Trauma Recovery – You Are a Winner — A New Choice Through Natural Developmental Movements (co–author) with Pamela Curlee, received a Regional (Book) Award "Iowa 2007.” In 2008 she was featured as the Member of the Year in the Madison Who’s Who (USA).
The author has taken part in over 20 TV and radio programs in Poland and other countries, discussing her research results along with clinical and developmental topics related to children with disabilities. Dr Masgutova currently resides in Poland and teaches her MNRI™ programs in Poland and in the USA, Canada, Russia, Germany, France, Netherlands, Austria, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, Singapore, Belgium, Hong-Kong, Argentina, and Denmark.
She is the organizer of 14 International Neuro-Sensory-Motor Reflex Integration and rehabilitation camp/workshop clinics for children with developmental deficits. The clinics are located in Poland and the USA. 1989 – Volunteer for Ufa railway catastrophe: physical and psychological rehabilitation of the children in the Burn Clinic, victims of the railway catastrophe in Ufa. Used the Edu-K program (Brain Gym book) for children from 2 – 18 years of age. The results of using the Movement Program were very successful: emotional rehabilitation and physical recovery were quicker by six to eight times in comparison with other methods and techniques. Articles, book on the results of the work. In 2006 received the award for publication of the book in 1998 on the catastrophe.
1989 – 2008 – Leader for clinical work with children and adults with challenges – Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Autistic Spectrum, Dyslexia, Genetic Problems, FAS. Created Programs of Reflex Integration for professionals, parents and clients (internal and external publications).
2002 – 2008 – Founded International Camps for Children with Developmental Problems – Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Autistic Spectrum, Dyslexia, Genetic Problems, FAS – in Poland and USA (720 children with mainly severe challenges).
