Introduction to the Reflex Integration

Dr. Svetlana Masgutova is developing and teaching the concept and profound experience of  the integration of reflexes into whole body movements and skills. This innovative method brings new light to the traditional concept of the extinction of reflexes.

The Reflex Integration Method is a process in Developmental NeuroKinesiology™ based on the evaluation of Primary Movement Development and a re-patterning system of techniques and exercises created to enhance learning skills and personal development

The evaluation of the primary movement system includes:

  • Evaluation of primary movement schemes (trunk extension, homologeous, homolateral, cross-lateral, and intentional)
  • Evaluation of basic reflex patterns and their variants
  • Evaluation of sensori-motor integration

Repatterning of primary movements is based on the following NeuroKinesiology techniques:

  • Activation and restoration of the primary movement schemes (extension, homologeous, homolateral, cross-lateral, intentional)
  • Re-education and integration of the basic infant and lifelong reflex patterns and their variants.
  • Re-education of dysfunctional and pathological reflex patterns
  • Sensori-motor integration of reflexes.
  • Integration of a reflex with its related skills and abilities which serve as the foundation for successful physical, emotional, and intellectual development.
  • Integrative games for experiencing reflex integration.

“The first infant movements do not disappear; they continue to work in union with higher nervous formations…”
L.S. Vigotsky, outstanding Russian psychologist (1930).

Benefits of Movement and Reflex Integration

  • Reflexes influence motor development and take part in building movement patterns which influence the development and enrichment of learning skills.
  • Development of movement in infancy crucially influences the development of the brain, mental, and intellectual processes.
  • Infant Reflexes are the neurological basis for the development of controlled movements, which, later opens the field of possibilities for choice making on the level of reasoning.
  • During situations of trauma we will return to our first patterns of movement. These reflexes fulfil the role of protection and survival in stress situations.

 Course Concepts

  • Reflex Integration is based on the links of a reflex within the dynamics of other reflexes such as utero, birth, post-birth, newborn, infant, early childhood, and lifelong reflexes.
  • Tactile, proprioceptive, and audio-visual components influence the degree of reflex functioning and integration.
  • Automatic and conscious movement skills correlate to the level of development of individual reflexes.
  • -The integration of reflexes is the basis of successful developmental, academic, sports, and professional skills.

Reflex Integration through Developmental NeuroKinesiology™  has been developed through our long-term use of these processes with people of all ages and developmental skills.  The benefits of exploring, experiencing, and integrating reflexes is crucial for dealing with stress/trauma and new learning situations.  Many people from around the world have benefited profoundly from this knowledge and now…….

We are happy to share our knowledge and experience with you.
